Who doesn’t love the convenience of a wallet phone case? Combining two bulky things you you have to carry around into one seems like a no-brainer. For years I have been using a wallet phone case and when the iPhone 14 Pro came out, I decided that I wanted to try a new brand of case and not go with the one that I am used to getting. It was time for a change! As an online tech product reviewer, I come across many gadgets and accessories that promise to simplify our digital lives. Today, I’m diving into the Smartish iPhone Wallet Case, specifically designed for the iPhone 14 Pro. This case has garnered a lot of attention for its dual functionality – a protective case and a card holder. But how does it really stack up?
What Did We Like About The Smartish Wallet Phone Case
Convenience and Practicality
The Smartish Wallet Case stands out for its practicality. I find the convenience of carrying essential cards, such as a driver’s license, credit card, and ID, without needing a separate wallet, incredibly useful. This is a bonus for anyone like me who prefers to travel light or minimize daily carry items. This case effectively addresses a common problem: the tendency to lose smaller items like wallets while keeping track of our phones. It’s a practical solution for those who are prone to misplacing their wallets but keep their phones within reach. On the contrary, the biggest reason I hear from others why they don’t use a wallet phone case is because they are scared to lose their phone and wallet at the same time, which is totally valid.
Despite the product description suggesting a three-card limit, I found that the case could comfortably hold up to four cards. I have been carrying 4 cards in my case for the past two weeks and don’t feel like it adds a lot of extra width and there doesn’t seem to be any problem holding 4 securing, and even dropping down to 3 cards. When using leather wallet phone cases, it is difficult to have 4 and drop down to 3 cards because the leather will stretch out and then wont work if you want to use fewer cards. You have to commit to the number of cards you are going to use with leather wallet cases. It’s thoughtfully designed to be thin and sleek, ensuring that my phone doesn’t feel bulky or cumbersome – a significant plus compared to other more unwieldy wallet cases I’ve used in the past.
Design and Durability
The Smartish Wallet Case’s design is impressive. I appreciate its simplicity and durability. It looks good and feels sturdy. The stability of the cardholder is a key feature, securely holding the cards in place.
One of best design features in my opinion is that the cards go in the side (and are pretty hidden) and not go in the top or bottom of the case. I always seem to have issues with other cases that have card slots on top or bottom because pulling the phone out of a pocket can cause the cards to get stock in your pocket and/or fall out. These cards stay secure in the side pocket.
Protection
Overall, I think that the case has pretty solid protection. With the added thickness from the cards on the back, it add another layer of protection naturally. The camera has a significant edge that goes all around, and there is a 1mm raised edge on the front of the case to keep the screen protected when laying flat on a table. I still am using a tempered screen protector to add another layer of security to my screen. The Smartish case also boasts about their air-pocket corners to help protect from shattering at tall heights.

The Smartish Wallet iPhone 14 Case is well designed and adds a good mix of style, convenience & protection.
What We Didn’t Like
Grip and Texture
However, the Smartish Wallet Case does have its drawbacks. The case’s soft matte texture, while aesthetically pleasing, compromises the grip. This has led to a couple of instances where my phone nearly slipped from my hands, posing a risk of damage. This was caused from having sweaty hands and when mixed with the matte finish can can be a little risky.
The edge of the case does have more grip which helps but having more have that similar pattern and text more across the back of the case would help keep the case secure.
Wireless Charging
Unfortunately like many wallet cases, this phone case is not compatible with wireless charging. With many cars now having wireless charging, this is a major bummer especially with these newer model phone like the iPhone 14 Pro I have. Looks like I will just be using the old fashion method of plugging the phone in, which is easy with this case and the very accessible ports available.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Smartish iPhone Wallet Case is a mixed bag. It excels in convenience, design, and protection. It’s sleek, practical, and perfect for those who prefer a minimalist approach.
For potential buyers, I suggest exploring more reviews and, if possible, trying the case personally to assess its feel and fit. If opting for the Smartish Wallet Case, consider additional protective features like a screen protector or a separate camera cover to enhance your device’s safety. As with any product, it’s about finding the right fit for your individual needs and lifestyle.
